Opening Range Breakout (NY)

Breakout of the range of the first 30 minutes of the New York session.

How it works

The opening range (first 30 minutes) concentrates the session's initial liquidity. A close outside that range indicates the session's dominant direction. For gold the reference open is the COMEX/NY stock-market open (09:30); for forex, 08:00 NY (08:30 macro data).

Step-by-step rules

1. Mark the high and low of the first two M15 candles.
2. Entry at the first M15 close outside the range (up to 2 hours later).
3. Stop: opposite end of the range.
4. Target: 1.5R.
